With a Big Bang, the Yum Universe Is Born

With a Big Bang, the Yum Universe Is Born

www.YumUniverse.com is born indeed, and growing like a weed as they say.

Founded by Heather Crosby, a vegan and local foods enthusiast, the website offers guidance to those who want to lead healthy, plant-based, raw lifestyles. The recipes are dairy-free, and mostly gluten and soy-free, are simple to make and delicious to eat. Meat eaters, fear not! You WILL enjoy this food.

Last Thursday, YumUniverse hosted its website launch party at the Chicago Urban Art Society (an awesome new art gallery and special events venue in the Pilsen neighborhood) to over 300 hungry Chicagoans. Guests were fed various vegan treats, such as Buttery Kale Crackers with a Chipotle Cheese Dip and Chocolate Cake Lollipops! Local Koval Distillery showcased a few of their fine cocktails and Hahn Family Wines offered tastings of their sustainable/organic wine. It was a fantastic party and to top it off, YumUniverse decided to donate all of the monies received from selling raffle tickets to OSP! We are most grateful to Heather and YumUniverse and applaud them for their dedication to supporting community efforts and local, sustainable food.

We definitely left with some yummy in our tummies and our hearts, for this amazing new website. Thank you!

P.S. If you have not tried her kale chips, you must. After trying my first, I traveled from booth to booth in search of more. Unfortunately, most others found them as tasty as I did. So it seems I'll be hitting up the kale stand at the Farmers' Market this weekend!
